With the Current

Moving With God's Current, From a Single Drop to an Ocean

God is the Creator, and everything He created moves with a purpose - rivers flow toward the sea, seasons turn toward harvest, and a life surrendered to Him moves toward something far bigger than where it started. Scripture was given to inform that movement: to root our decisions in truth, and to remind us that the freedom to choose has always been God's gift, never His afterthought. This teaching is about learning to move with God's current instead of exhausting ourselves fighting against it - and about how something as small as a single choice, a single drop, becomes, over time and over distance, an ocean.

God the Creator, and the Truth He Has Given Us

Before anything else can be said, this has to be said first: God is the Creator of all things, and Scripture is not a collection of suggestions - it is His teaching, given so that we could make decisions rooted in truth rather than guesswork. Every command, every promise, every warning in the Bible exists to inform us, so that whatever choice we make next, we make it with real knowledge of what is true and what is not.

A Creator who made everything also knows how everything works best - which is exactly why His instructions are not restrictions handed down to limit us, but wisdom handed down to enable us.

The Freedom of Choice Has Always Been His Gift

From the garden onward, God has never once removed a person's freedom to choose. He set two trees before Adam and Eve. He set life and death before Israel. That freedom is not a flaw in the plan - it is the plan, because a choice that could not be otherwise was never really a choice at all, and obedience that was never free to be disobedience was never really love.

What we need is not more restriction. What we need is the Spirit of that truth living inside us - enabling us, working for us rather than against us - so that when the moment to choose arrives, we are already leaning the right direction.

With the Current, Not Against It

Picture a swimmer fighting upstream against a strong river current - straining with everything they have, exhausted, gaining only inches for every ounce of effort spent. Now picture that same swimmer turned the other direction, moving with the current instead of against it. The same river that exhausted them now carries them. That is the difference between a life lived in the flesh, straining against God's truth at every turn, and a life lived in the Spirit, moving with what God is already doing.

God's truth was never given to hold us back. It was given to carry us - the same way a current carries a vessel that has stopped fighting it.

Living Water

Jesus gave us the clearest picture of this when He sat down at a well in Samaria and offered a woman something far greater than the water she came to draw:

And later, at the Feast of Tabernacles, He made the same offer publicly, in words that echo through everything this teaching is about:

Notice what Jesus did not say. He did not say a trickle would flow from within the believer. He said rivers - plural, moving, alive. Living water is not water that sits still in a cistern, stagnant and closed off. It is water in motion, always flowing outward from the person who has received it toward whoever is downstream of them.

From a Drop to the Mississippi

Think about how a great river is actually formed. It does not begin as a river. It begins as a single drop of rain falling somewhere on a hillside, joining a trickle, joining a brook, joining a stream, joining a creek. From the east and from the west, hundreds of small, unremarkable creeks and brooks and tributaries - most of them named only by the handful of people who live near them - all pour into the same great channel, and out of that joining comes something like the Mississippi River: wide, deep, and powerful enough to carry ships and shape the very land it flows through.

That is exactly the picture of spiritual growth Scripture gives us. Nobody starts mature. Every believer starts as a single drop - a small, tentative first step of faith, easily overlooked, easily underestimated. But that single drop was never meant to stay alone. It joins other drops. It becomes a stream. Given time, given growth, given the ordinary faithfulness of showing up day after day in God's word, that stream becomes a river, and that river culminates in something as vast and as unstoppable as an ocean.

Little becomes much - not because the little was insignificant, but because it was faithfully added to. A single creek looks like nothing next to the Mississippi Delta. But without that one creek, the river is smaller than it was made to be. Every small act of faith, every early and immature step, is a tributary that God intends to use to build something far larger than the person taking that first step could have imagined.

Every Drop Feeds the Whole

This is also a picture of the church, and of this ministry's own work. No single teaching, no single drop of truth poured out, looks like much on its own. But truth added to truth, teaching added to teaching, one small stream of understanding joining another, is exactly how a body of believers - and a body of teaching - grows from something small into something that can carry real weight and reach real distance.

All Glory, Honor, and Praise

None of this - not the river, not the growth, not the drop that becomes an ocean - was ever meant to point back to the drop itself. A river does not exist to glorify the creek it came from. It exists to glorify the One who set gravity in place, who called the waters to gather, who spoke a Creator's word over chaos and brought forth order and abundance. Every stage of this growth, from the smallest first step of faith to the widest, most fruitful maturity, belongs to Him.

Move with the current. Drink the living water Jesus offers, and let it become in you a spring welling up, and then a river flowing out. Whatever small and unremarkable beginning you feel like today, know that it was never meant to stay small - it was meant to join with countless other small beginnings and become, in God's time, an ocean. All the glory, all the honor, and all the praise for that belongs to Him, now and forever.
